What is Catcheer?:

Catcheer is a free NZXY tool for turning an HTML project into a desktop application that is ready to share. It is made especially for games and interactive experiences that need their own window instead of another browser tab or a complicated setup for the person running them.

The application uses an embedded WebView2 on Windows and WebKit on Linux to support HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WebGL. When the project allows it, GPU acceleration helps preserve its animations and visual effects while giving the result the shape of a traditional desktop application.

NZXY builds small, direct, flexible software: tools that solve a specific problem without burying the useful parts under unnecessary options. Catcheer follows that idea with settings for the title, icon, window size, window mode, fullscreen, and messages that let the HTML content communicate with the system.

A small runtime for HTML projects

Catcheer follows a simple rule: let the operating system provide the web view, then keep the wrapper out of the way. Windows uses WebView2 and Linux uses GTK WebKit, giving developers a straightforward way to package an HTML project as a desktop application.

Prepare a project

Place your index.html and its dependencies inside the source folder next to the Catcheer executable.

Set the initial title, window size, fullscreen mode, and resizable state in the platform configuration file.

Add custom.ico on Windows or custom.png on Linux when the project needs its own icon.

Talk to the window

The optional API uses window.chrome.webview.postMessage for window operations, local file access, opening a URL in the browser, and launching a second HTML window.
